Man faces attempted murder charges after hitting pedestrians with vehicle

GRAND FORKS — A driver who allegedly hit two pedestrians and fled the scene has been arrested on three counts of attempted murder. The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the 1600 block of South 16th Street. According to a report from the Grand Forks Police Department, officers responded to multiple calls of a reckless driver who struck a pedestrian and then hit a tree, disabling the vehicle. The alleged driver was reported to have exited the vehicle and left the scene. The report said officers apprehended Ian Matthew Schneeweis a few blocks away. "During the course of the investigation, it was discovered two pedestrians had been struck by Ian Schneeweis 2007 Honda Accord, along with a motor vehicle and the entrance to an apartment building.
